Overview

John Graham-Cumming, CTO of Cloudflare, first joined the company in 2012, when he came on board with the title of programmer. Since then, he has led the company’s engineering operations, and has played a key role in rolling out major new features including Universal SSL, the high security web domain Registrar, Universal DNSSEC, support for TLS 1.3, and Traffic Control, among others.
Cloudflare has consistently provided DDoS protection effectively and affordably, and now has 101 data centers across 49 countries, providing a truly global, intelligent network that grows stronger with every attack. John and the engineering team have been a crucial part in ensuring unparalleled DDoS protection across Cloudflare’s global network.

Accomplishments

Under John’s leadership, Cloudflare has announced Universal SSL, Universal DNSSEC, and provided unrivaled DDoS protection, making the Internet significantly more secure.
Universal SSL doubled the size of the encrypted web -- previously, less than 0.4 percent of the web was encrypted. Cloudflare was also the first company to offer SSL protection at no cost, and to make it easy and accessible to anyone regardless of budget or technical know-how.
In the last year, Cloudflare has rolled out three new encryption capabilities, Opportunistic Encryption, Automatic HTTPS Rewrites, and TLS 1.3 implementation to further expand the reach of the encrypted web.
