Overview
Ericom Shield represents a new proactive, detection-less approach to safeguard organizational endpoints and networks from web-borne threats. Unlike anti-virus solutions that block only malware that they can detect based on signatures or behaviors, Ericom Shield keeps all browser-borne executable code, including zero-day and completely unknown, never-before seen malware, off endpoints so it can’t spread to networks.
Using Remote Browser Isolation, Ericom Shield renders each website a user visits in a temporary virtual browser, located in an isolated Linux container remote from the organization’s network. A safe media stream is sent to the endpoint browser, providing a natural, completely interactive user experience.
When the user stops browsing, the container is destroyed along with all executable code, benign and malicious. Ericom Shield can be deployed on-premises, in the DMZ, in public or private clouds, or as a hybrid, to suit any customer environment and isolate active website content, so it never reaches the endpoints
Files to be downloaded are scanned and cleansed using a pre-integrated, Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) process, before being released to the user device. Ericom Shield works with any endpoint device, OS, or browser and does not require installation of any software or plug-ins on endpoints.

Main points of differentiation:
Ericom Shield solution is based on Linux container technology and its various components are each wrapped in a dedicated container, ensuring maximum protection. Each browsing session that is initiated in this dedicated Linux container is hardened and stripped-down, and from which unnecessary services have been removed. At the end of the browsing session, or after a specified idle time, the containers are destroyed to prevent malware from persisting.
Ericom Shield includes factory-integrated file sanitization capabilities, via a content disarm and reconstruction (CDR) solution that is embedded in the overall solution.
Many legacy websites, such as governmental, financial and insurance sites, include components that are available only in Internet Explorer based browsers: IE or Edge. These IE-based browsers are supported natively in Ericom Shield.
