Overview

Fortinet is committed to developing cybersecurity experts. Supported by a global network of Authorized Training Centers, over 1 million Fortinet certifications have been issued to-date with CSAT scores remaining around 93%.

Curriculum based on Threat Intelligence: The eight-level program has 400+ hours of content developed by world-class curriculum developers with in-depth knowledge of industry-leading technology and the evolving threat landscape. FortiGuard Labs, a global research team comprised of experienced threat hunters, researchers, analysts, engineers, and data scientists, is a contributor.

Industry Courses: Fortinet provides relevant training for the current threat landscape. E.g. OT Security curriculum teaches how to design, implement and operate OT security solutions for critical infrastructures. Other topics include Zero Trust Network Access and Secure SD-WAN, among others.

Free Technical Training: In 2020 Fortinet launched its Free Training initiative to offer its 300+ hours of self-paced courses at no cost.

Free Cybersecurity Awareness: Since its inception in 2016, Fortinet has provided free access to cybersecurity awareness training.

Fortinet’s ecosystem of partnerships extends to industry, academia, government, and nonprofits. As part of a corporate commitment, Fortinet pledges to train 1 million people by 2026.

Free Security Awareness for Schools: As part of the 2022 White House National Cyber Workforce and Education Summit, Fortinet offers a free education-focused version of its Security Awareness and Training service for all K-12 schools in the US. Fortinet is expanding this offer to other countries and is developing free student content.

Education Programs: Fortinet has partnerships across private and public sectors to help drive a skilled, inclusive, and diverse cybersecurity workforce, with a focus on women, minorities, veterans, and students. We work with global leaders, like the World Economic Forum, and over 500 academic partners in more than 96 countries and territories as part of our effort to drive change.

How we are different

- The Fortinet Training Institute Certification program provides content that is developed to help cybersecurity professionals keep pace with the evolving threat landscape. The professional content developers who work on these courses structure them in a way that provides foundational and advanced cybersecurity knowledge that can be applied across various vendor solutions. The role-based structure of the cyber training courses provides guidance and best practices to individuals on how to set up specific security solutions as well as what the process is to defend against potential cyberattacks. Once an exam is passed, the certification provides independent validation that the appropriate security and networking skills were obtained. CSAT scores for the program remain high at 93%.

- The Training Institute works closely with FortiGuard Labs to stay up-to-date on the latest threat intelligence research. This research is used to evaluate existing courses and create new content as new threats emerge.

- As part of Fortinet’s commitment to close the cybersecurity skills gap and train 1 million people by 2026, it offers many free training and certification programs in an effort to reach all populations. Fortinet, and in turn the Fortinet Training Institute, is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion as an organization, as well as in the programs it creates to develop the cybersecurity workforce of the future.
