The Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Certification program is a comprehensive, multi-level certification pathway designed to address the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals with the skills needed to protect complex networks. It offers a range of self-paced (free) and instructor-led courses, supplemented with hands-on exercises to ensure practical expertise. The program consists of five proficiency levels with 12 certifications. It spans various levels from foundational to architect, with certifications ranging from Fortinet Certified Fundamentals to Fortinet Certified Expert.
High Quality Curriculum that Leverages Threat Intelligence from FortiGuard Labs:
The NSE Certification program is designed to provide technical professionals with independent validation of their security and networking skills. The 600+ hours of content is developed by Fortinet’s highly experienced trainers and curriculum developers from around the world. Additionally, the curriculum is augmented from FortiGuard Labs, a global research team comprised of experienced threat hunters, researchers, analysts, engineers, and data scientists. The content is always aligned with the latest cybersecurity challenges, and ensures high-quality, relevant material.
Fortinet’s certification program stands out by integrating both product-focused and solution integration training, ensuring professionals gain practical, hands-on experience early in their journey. The program begins with fundamentals courses that equip learners with essential skills and includes hands-on experience started at the second level, then advancing to more complex topics at higher levels. Unlike other programs that focus solely on product knowledge, Fortinet’s approach emphasizes job roles and tasks, making the competencies transferable across vendor solutions. The program focuses on covering six key areas: Network Security, Security Operations, Cloud Security, OT Security, Secure Access Services Edge, and Zero Trust Access.
Key Capabilities / Features
• This program starts at the fundamentals level covering cybersecurity basics, followed by product training and hands-on lab experience at the associate level, then advanced training and labs at higher levels both products and solutions. Other programs focus on basic to advance product training only. These courses, coupled with product experience, shortens time-to-productivity for aspiring cybersecurity professionals.
• New functionalities added to make training more interactive like tips to help solve lab exercises and quizzes to reinforce learning.
• The program is designed based on job roles and tasks. This makes knowledge and competencies easily transferable to products from other vendors.
• Annual updates of courses and exams to address technology trends, cybersecurity needs, improved/expanded product features and functions.
• Exam blueprints and content are reviewed by in-house Fortinet subject matter experts / cybersecurity experts. Other vendors outsource development.
• This program allows us to easily add courses, exams, and certifications as the industry and technology evolves.
• Digital badges are awarded at the exam and certifications levels, allowing the students to showcase their specific competencies.
• Fortinet training is accessible directly from Fortinet or through our certified Authorized Training Centers (ATCs), providing instructor-led training in over 150 countries and 26 languages.
• Fortinet works with our 50 Education Outreach and Veteran partners, as well as close to 800 post-secondary schools to offer free training, labs, and free exam vouchers for certifications.
• To ensure exams are also widely available, Fortinet offers proctored exams through global third-party physical test centers, or by remote services.
• We collaborate closely with our partner trainers (Fortinet Certified Trainers) to scale our training delivery globally.
