Overview
The Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Certification Program is an eight-level certification program designed for customers, partners, and employees that has issued more than half a million certifications to date. In 2020, with the goal of helping to close the cyber skills shortage, Fortinet made its Network Security Expert training courses available for free to over 800,000 registrants.
The first set of levels (1-3) assess a user’s knowledge of the threat landscape and can be helpful for anyone who wants to become more cyber aware.
Moving up, NSE levels 4-6 are courses designed for a technical audience. These focus on one’s ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot comprehensive, integrated network security controls in live environments.
Lastly, levels 7-8 hone in on the expertise needed to fully leverage Fortinet solutions.
To become NSE 8 certified, an elite distinction, candidates must have related industry experience and should have completed the appropriate Professional, Analyst, Specialist, and Architect designation training.
How we are different
• The NSE program differentiates itself through its breadth, depth and accessibility. The program is very broad with eight levels of certification targeted towards individuals new to cybersecurity (NSE levels 1 – 3), existing cybersecurity professionals who need to become Fortinet product SMEs (NSE 4-6) as well as experts with many years of industry experience, involved in designing large infrastructures (NSE 7 – 8).
• The program goes very deep technically, particularly at NSE level 8 where candidates are required to take a written exam plus a 2-day hands-on practical exam. The program has always been widely accessible through our network of training delivery and exam partners.
• Additionally, Fortinet has enhanced the accessibility by making training content and exam vouchers available at no cost to more than 300 academic institutions globally. In April of 2020, Fortinet made the entire catalogue of NSE Certification training available in self-paced format free of charge to everyone.
