- Protection against deepfakes and other synthetic media: other 'liveness' solutions use face verification to confirm that an online user is the right person and that they are probably real but only Genuine Presence Assurance can detect spoof attacks using deepfake videos or other synthetic media, which is where the real threat to biometric authentication lies. It is also cloud based, ensuring that even if a computer or device is compromised the biometric check is not at risk.
- Threat intelligence for sustainable security: The iProov Security Operations Center provides threat intelligence for iProov's biometric assurance, making it highly resilient to the evolving threat landscape. iSOC uses machine-learning technology, people and processes to ensure that spoof attacks, either using masks or photographs or digitally injected media, are monitored and tracked so that the system adapts to prevent sophisticated criminal activity.

Brief Overview

iProov Genuine Presence Assurance uses face biometric verification to confirm the identity of an online user in a way that is highly secure and very easy to use.

The unique, patented technology is being used by banks, governments, healthcare and travel providers globally for secure remote onboarding and/or authentication. An enterprise that is onboarding a customer online asks the user to scan their passport or other approved document with the camera on their mobile device or computer. They then scan their face in a process that takes a few seconds. The face scan is matched to the photo in the document to confirm that the online user is the right person. A colored illumination during the scan checks that the user is a real person (and not a photo or mask being shown to a device camera) and that they are authenticating right now.

This very simple, very secure use of biometrics replaces the need for an in-person identity check and protects against fraud, money-laundering and other online criminal activities. The pandemic of 2020 proved that identity verification must be possible online, even for the most secure processes such as renewing a driver’s license or accessing health records. iProov more than doubled its customer base in 2020, with customers including the US Department of Homeland Security, the UK Home Office, the National Health Service (NHS), the Singapore Government, and numerous banks. The number of people using iProov to authenticate themselves with their bank, government or other organization worldwide increased by 549%, making 2020 a record year for the company.
