Description

MetaDefender is an advanced threat protection platform that excels at detecting and preventing malware and threats embedded in files. It incorporates multi-scanning technology to detect malware, and uses Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) and file-based vulnerability assessment technologies to provide comprehensive threat prevention.

MetaDefender addresses the critical need for more effective threat detection through multi-scanning with multiple anti-malware engines. While a single anti-malware engine can detect up to 90% of common cyber threats in files, most AV engines have a 40-80% detection rate. OPSWAT’s multi-scanning technology combines the best of more than 30 anti-malware engines to provide over 99% detection accuracy. Multi-scanning also reduces the malware outbreak window; the more anti-malware engines you use to scan, the smaller the malware outbreak window. In many cases, this window can be reduced from several days to just hours.

The speed of our multi-scanning engine is fully optimized, leveraging methods such as distributed computing, multi-core processing and scanning in memory. MetaDefender can process files in milliseconds, which is much faster than sandboxes, another alternative for managing threats.

OPSWAT CDR technology ‘disarms’ each file by removing all potentially malicious content, without relying on detection. By sanitizing and reconstructing files using CDR, MetaDefender can prevent zero-day and unknown threats that can bypass other threat protection solutions. Our CDR solution supports more file types (over 40) than any of our competitors.
