Overview

Neustar is an information services and technology company offering a range of cloud-based services that enable marketing and IT professionals to promote and protect their businesses. The company operates complex data registries and uses its expertise in analytics, cybersecurity and fraud prevention to link critical information and provide data-driven insights that facilitate trusted connections between companies and their customers. Neustar serves more than 8,000 clients worldwide, including 60 of the Fortune 100.

The company traces its origins to 1996, when — as the Communications Industry Services operating unit within Lockheed Martin — it won the contract to provide local telephone number portability services to select regions in North America. The following year brought the contract to administer the North American Numbering Plan, and in 1999 Lockheed Martin spun off the unit as Neustar to ensure the neutrality of its number administration functions. Since then, the company has continued to diversify its information services through acquisitions and new technology development, and today Neustar offers industry-leading solutions in marketing, risk, communications, security and registry services.

Thanks in part to the massive datasets it manages, Neustar is one of the few companies capable of knowing with certainty who is on the other end of every internet and telephone interaction. Access to this comprehensive information enables Neustar to both help clients acquire and manage orders and prevent fraud and attacks. In 2019 alone, Neustar mitigated attacks multiple attacks over 237Gbps in our SOC on behalf of its customers.

Neustar is home to some of the nation’s top cybersecurity experts and offers the industry’s most comprehensive security portfolio, combining application security, DNS services, security intelligence and web performance management. These services help protect clients’ networks and applications, identify and mitigate threats, and enable businesses to confidently pursue new opportunities and engage with customers.

How we are different

• Our data – We’re proud to be the home of some of the most foremost experts on cybersecurity. Our data – We can authoritatively tell a client exactly who is calling or connecting with them, allowing you to make critical, real-time responses. And the same comprehensive information that enables our clients to direct and manage orders also stops attackers. We know when someone isn’t who they claim to be, which helps stop fraud and denial of service before they become a problem. Because we’re also an experienced manager of some of the world’s most complex databases, we help clients control their online identity, registering and protecting their domain name, and routing traffic to the correct network address.
• Our network – With 30 globally distributed nodes to increase end-user proximity and reduce latency, we have one of the world’s largest dedicated DDoS networks, supporting some of the most recognizable top-level domains. Furthermore, our enterprise-grade, managed DNS services are used by the Fortune 500 to ensure 100% website availability and to securely deliver fast and accurate query responses to websites and other vital online applications.
• Our people – We’re proud to be the home of some of the most foremost experts on cybersecurity. In a world where cyberattacks are becoming more sophisticated and complex, we have a dedicated team of industry giants that stay ahead of the curve to stave off the next DDoS attack of our clients network or fleet of IoT devices, all so they don’t have to.
