NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Securing enterprise data with encryption requires a tradeoff with storage efficiency – using encryption negates data reduction technologies like compression and deduplication. This can result in storage capacity requirements increasing up to 500% compared to those for storing unencrypted data. With Vormetric Transparent Encryption for Efficient Storage (VTE-ES), users no longer need to make the choice between data security and storage efficiency.
Using secure key sharing technologies between Vormetric Transparent Encryption (VTE) and storage arrays, encrypted data from hosts running VTE can now be analyzed by enterprise storage solutions, compressed and deduplicated, and then securely stored on the array in an encrypted format. With VTE-ES, there isn’t any data security impact on data reduction.
Pure Storage FlashArray is the first storage solution Thales has integrated with VTE-ES. As a result, this industry-first solution delivers end-to-end encryption while preserving the industry-leading data reduction benefits of Pure.
How we are different
• Data Encryption with Data Reduction: VTE-ES provides a high degree of security for data stored on flash arrays by encrypting data, providing privileged user access control, and detailed data access audit logging while retaining critical storage efficiencies, such as deduplication and compression.
• Reduced TCO: VTE-ES simplifies data security administration with centralized access policies and key management. Secure key generation and storage is provided by the Vormetric Data Security Manager, which uses KMIP to securely share keys between DSM and flash arrays.
• Greater Performance: customers can increase application performance by running them on the Pure Storage FlashArray while ensuring protection.
