Overview
The IoT Security Podcast explores the Security of Things. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a giant network of over 50 billion connected devices, and it’s transforming the way we live and work. But a breakdown in security will prevent this IoT transformation. Twice a month, Brian Contos and John Vecchi speak with the biggest names and the biggest brains in cybersecurity, including CISOs, analysts, security researchers, and other industry thought leaders, to give you the information you need to navigate security and threats in an increasingly Thing-based world. Guests include former deputy director of the NSA Bill Crowell, CISO of Harris Health Jeffrey Vinson, Sallie Mae’s Steve Lodin, Rachael Tubbs of IoT Village, and more.
How we are different
While the IoT Security Podcast is on its surface about the devices we use in our daily lives and the inherent vulnerabilities we have ignored for so long, it doesn’t take long to figure out it’s more than that. Each episode is framed by a guest and the background they bring to the table because this podcast is about people. It’s about a journey one takes from a liberal arts degree to a device researcher or CISO. And it’s about the connections made, yes, between devices, but also between ourselves.
Host Brian Contos has two IPOs and seven acquisitions under his belt, having helped build some of the most successful security companies in the world. He has over 25 years in the security industry as security company entrepreneur, board advisor, investor, and author. After getting his start with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and later Bell Labs, Brian began the process of building security startups and taking multiple companies through successful IPOs and acquisitions. Brian authored the book Enemy at the Water Cooler, and he co-authored Physical & Logical Security Convergence with former NSA Deputy Director William Crowell. He was featured in the cyberwar documentary 5 Eyes alongside General Michael Hayden, former NSA, and CIA Director.
Host John Vecchi brings over 25 years of experience in high-tech marketing, strategy, product marketing, product management, sales, and consulting to the show. A serial CMO and security visionary, he has helped build and lead some of the biggest brands in enterprise security, including Solera Networks, Blue Coat Systems, Check Point Software, McAfee, Zscaler, Anitian, Symantec, and Anonyome Labs. Throughout his career, John's been featured at events and conferences worldwide, built an award-winning security podcast titled "Security on Cloud," and wrote as a featured columnist at SECURITYWEEK, writing about data security.
