Overview
The North Dakota State University has fielded a student team across numerous cybersecurity competitions. The team is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students and coached / mentored by NDSU asst. professor Jeremy Straub (who is also the associate director of the NDSU Institute for Cyber Security Education and Research).
In 2019, the team has competed in:
– National Cyber League – Fall
– National Cyber League – Spring
– Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition
– Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition
– MITRE CTF
– Hivestorm Cybersecurity Competition
– National Cyber Summit Cyber Cup Competition
In addition, team members have participated in a number of individual competitions. The team has excelled, taking second place in the National Cyber Summit Cyber Cup competition, coming in in the top ten at the MITRE CTF and scoring several top 10 category finishes in both the fall and spring National Cyber League competitions.
Accomplishments
The NDSU Cyber Bison student cybersecurity competition team has excelled in cybersecurity competitions, earning national and international top placements.
The NDSU team has participated in both offensive (penetration testing) and defensive competitions, exposing students to a range of cybersecurity career paths through competition participation.
The NDSU team is a relative newcomer to many of these competitions and is outscoring teams that have been participating for longer periods of time in the competitions.
