Overview
Endpoint management (including inventory management, change management, patch management, etc.) and security management (vulnerability scanning and remediation) have traditionally been delivered by two separate groups within corporations. This has meant separate teams, budgets, and processes, as well as separate reporting. Since 2020, Ashley has been on a mission to unify these two categories to help enhance the efficacy and efficiency of both. As a result, the market has begun to shift and re-categorize endpoint and security management into a consolidated category which some, including industry analysts, are starting to call Unified Security and Endpoint Management (USEM).
As a result of this innovation, Ashley’s company, Syxsense, entered a hyper-growth mode and saw revenue double year over year for two years. Syxsense’s historic growth has the “hockey stick” look most companies show as a forecast. This growth has had a real impact on increasing the security posture of hundreds of enterprise customers around the world.
During that process, Ashley realized that Syxsense was putting powerful tools into the hands of people who were not the traditional CISO-level, PhD-holding personas. To make the tools more accessible and usable for entry-level security analysts and other IT professionals, he introduced Syxsense Cortex™, which is a revolutionary drag-and-drop interface for building powerful but simple-to-create workflows for security remediation. This has made endpoint security and management insanely simple to execute. Furthermore, Ashley has built an offshore team of researchers that prebuild Cortex workflows for customers to use as starting points for their remediations. Syxsense’s threat research lab also scores current threats on six key vectors (called SyxScore) to help clients prioritize their remediation efforts. His leadership around product innovation in endpoint is why he should be recognized for this program.
Accomplishments
• Ashley is actively involved in setting Syxsense’s product roadmap. His innovation in combining management and security scanning technologies opened an entirely new market in security vulnerabilities remediation, leveraging management technology and workflows.
• Ashley is now leveraging combined management and security data to create a Trust Evaluation Engine allowing intelligent endpoints to make decisions regarding access to secure resources.
• Ashley also hosted a Young Presidents Organization (YPO) cybersecurity event for more than 50 top CEOs, where he interviewed Edward Snowden on responsible disclosure.
