NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Modern shipping is no longer just about moving cargo; it is about managing complex, remote operations. With a single day of delay costing now more than $200,000 (and in some ships, even $400,000!) ransomware is a real business risk. In the past, hacking a ship required special skills, especially to compromise maritime-specific devices and protocols such as Operational Technologies (OT), but new AI tools “democratize” this knowledge and we see many more hackers attempting to exploit this critical infrastructure. A recently published Cydome research showed 150% increase in maritime OT attacks, and more than 1000 GPS spoofing incidents each day!
Cydome, the maritime-specific cybersecurity pioneer, added in the past year several enhancements to its solution that provide unique mitigation to the rising challenges that is not available in other, standard cybersecurity solutions.
Highlights:
GPS/GNSS spoofing monitoring that doesn’t require a hardware installation (software only)
Enhanced OT protection, as can be evident from several CVEs published by the Cydome team on maritime OT.
Enhanced regulatory compliance, including a free reporting module of the Cydome solutions that takes crew and shipping executives step-by-step to comply with new cyber incident reporting regulations from the U.S. Coast Guard and others, in addition to compliance automations.
Fully remote deployment option: Cydome launched a unique capability to remotely deploy its cybersecurity solution as a docker on a router, solving the problem of protecting hard-to-get-to facilities such as offshore wind farms.
As mentioned, Cydome is exceptional as a maritime cybersecurity product company that employs a maritime cyber research team, which published several CVEs on maritime devices (and more in the pipeline).
Cydome deserves recognition for being the only solution that was specifically built as a product to bridge the gap between cybersecurity and maritime, ensuring that global trade remains resilient in an era of increasing cyber-warfare.
