NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
A Key Management System (KMS) is a critical infrastructure component that determines the reliability of an encryption framework. Even when the cryptographic algorithm itself is secure, the overall security architecture can be rendered ineffective if the key’s lifecycle is inadequately managed. NIST SP 800-57 identifies key management as a fundamental element of security.
The advancement of quantum computing has brought “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL)” attacks into realistic consideration. HNDL is a next-generation threat in which encrypted data is collected in advance and decrypted once quantum computers become commercially available. In particular, records that require long-term retention are structurally vulnerable to such threats, underscoring the growing importance of post-quantum cryptography.
D.AMO KMS is a key management system launched in 2004, capable of managing keys for commercially deployed encryption solutions including D.AMO. Built on accumulated references and technical expertise, it has incorporated PQC algorithms to enable proactive response to threats.
Achievements: Integration of PQC Algorithms
In 2025, D.AMO KMS incorporated PQC algorithms based on NIST standards. It supports the parallel operation of existing algorithms alongside PQC in a hybrid architecture, and implements a PQC-based generation, storage, and distribution management framework. Additionally, by providing integrated management of algorithm policies and key lifecycles, along with key-related dashboard and reporting capabilities, it ensures operational visibility and establishes a foundation for addressing future threats to long-term data.

D.AMO KMS provides management across the entire key lifecycle, thereby enhancing consistency and control. It also internalizes security by design through policy-based access control and key access logging, while improving operational efficiency and response speed via a web-based UI and real-time dashboard monitoring. It achieves simultaneous physical and logical key protection through integration with HSM and QRNG, and delivers unified policy-based key management across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, enabling organizations of all sizes to implement a secure key management system.
