NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Dmitry Marinov’s career mirrors the evolution of ANY.RUN. He joined in 2016 as one of its earliest engineers, helping build the platform that pioneered online interactive malware analysis by letting analysts control a live virtual machine and observe malicious behavior in real time.
He became Head of Development and then has served as Chief Technology Officer since October 2022. During his CTO tenure, ANY.RUN’s community grew from about 200,000 to more than 600,000 users and 16,000 organizations.
ANY.RUN’s Interactive Sandbox drives that growth. Under Dmitry’s technical leadership, it expanded across Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android and operated against an availability SLO above 99.9%. Its live behavioral evidence became the foundation for the company’s next major product.
Dmitry personally led and architected Threat Intelligence Lookup, launched in February 2024. After months of R&D across graph and relational databases, unsuccessful approaches, and repeated redesigns, he created the denormalized architecture that made the product viable at scale.
Today, TI Lookup searches terabytes of threat telemetry in about five seconds. It draws on roughly 600 million new indicators of compromise each year and behavioral data from 2.6 million interactive sandbox sessions. It maintains measured availability above 99.9% and received the 2025 Cybersecurity Excellence Award for Threat Intelligence. That award recognized the product; this nomination recognizes the technologist behind it.
Expertware reported an over 50% reduction in turnaround time for malware investigations and IOC extraction after adopting ANY.RUN.
Dmitry manages through engineering intelligence, using delivery, reliability, quality, security, and organizational signals to connect technical decisions with measurable outcomes. He created the OST Impact Model, an Outcome-Driven Development framework linking Outcome, System, and Team, published it in DZone, and later translated its principles into TheMetrics.AI. Within ANY.RUN’s broader technology organization, Dmitry led around 80 professionals across six product teams of engineering, DevOps, QA, and design functions. Under this model, delivery output increased 70% year over year in 2025.
Dmitry was elevated to IEEE Senior Member in 2024 and published in Wamda, DZone and Unite.AI. ANY.RUN also earned a 2025 Globee Gold award, CyberSecurity Breakthrough’s “Threat Intelligence Company of the Year”, and Cyber 150 recognition in 2024 and 2025.
Dmitry deserves Gold because he helped pioneer online interactive malware analysis, architected ANY.RUN’s next generation of threat intelligence, and built an engineering-intelligence system that scaled teams, technology, and cybersecurity impact worldwide.
