NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Emmanuella Essifua Acheampong is redefining what it means to be an early-career leader in cybersecurity. In just a few years, she has combined research, innovation, professional recognition, and community impact in ways that most professionals take decades to achieve.
A certified cybersecurity analyst, Emmanuella is driving solutions against fraud and identity theft, two of the fastest-growing threats worldwide. She created FraudLens™, a real-time detection tool that stops account takeover and phishing attacks before they spread, and built the Cyber Risk Intelligence Dashboard (CRID), which gives individuals and small organizations the power to measure and strengthen their cyber defenses. She went further to design two groundbreaking machine learning pipelines: a multilingual scam text generator to strengthen smishing detection across languages and a real-time scam call filter that blocks malicious calls before they reach victims.
Her work has already gained recognition at the highest levels. She is an INFORMS IRAC Award winner, presented her research at the Brandeis Global Cybersecurity & AI Conference, and led a Birds of a Feather session on the critical balance between human expertise and AI in fraud defense. She also serves as a peer reviewer for major conferences like HICSS and was selected to review presentations, workshops, and panel submissions for the Grace Hopper Celebration, the world’s largest gathering of women in computing. These roles underscore her influence in shaping conversations and ensuring quality research and innovation in cybersecurity and AI.
Beyond her personal achievements, Emmanuella is a builder of communities. As an active member of IEEE, INFORMS, ASA, and NSBE, she contributes to professional networks globally. At Brandeis, she mentored students as part of the Data Analytics Club, teaching SQL and guiding peers through their first data science and cybersecurity projects. She also founded a non-profit cybersecurity initiative that provides free, hands-on protection for families, individuals, and non-profits facing phishing, breaches, and data theft, bringing enterprise-grade security to those most vulnerable.
Every project she builds protects lives. Every award she wins validates her expertise. Every role she takes proves her leadership. Emmanuella is not waiting for the future of cybersecurity; she is building it now. Her innovations are already gaining early adoption among startups, nonprofits, and individual users who rely on them for real-time fraud detection and cyber risk assessment.
A rising star, a certified professional, and a global contributor, she embodies the spirit of the Junior Cybersecurity Professional of the Year.
