Overview
Evan Roberts co-leads FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Communications practice and his experience runs a gamut of diverse scenarios and includes ransomware attacks, large-scale data exfiltration, spear phishing attacks and employee data theft.
In his role, Evan advises companies and develops and executes multi-stakeholder communication programs around moments of significant change and crisis, including data privacy challenges, cybersecurity incidents and other crisis scenarios. He has particular expertise in designing and implementing complex issues management campaigns and providing crisis communications support around cybersecurity incidents.
He has counseled clients through nation-state attacks and ransomware incidents conducted by some of the highest-profile threat actors, as well as insider threats and breaches involving third-party vendors that led to significant data compromise. He also has extensive experience counseling clients through cybersecurity preparedness exercises and designing scenario plans and response playbooks to prepare for a variety of potential cyber crises.
Evan has provided cyber response and issues management counsel to a range of companies, from publicly traded Fortune 500 businesses to smaller operators with less established infrastructure and communications functions. Evan’s select client engagement work includes some of the largest and most complex cybersecurity incidents around the globe, including some of the most highly publicized ransomware attacks in recent memory.
Accomplishments
- Evan is one of the leading revenue drivers in FTI’s Strategic Communications segment, securing approximately 80 cyber matters for the firm and team in 2021. He places particular emphasis on mentoring our future generation of leaders and teaching them about cybersecurity issues while also expanding the practice’s reach by pursuing cybersecurity insurance panel inclusion and by cultivating relationships with the top legal counsel in the cyber space.
- Evan has advised clients through the most high-profile cybersecurity incidents of 2021. He advised an energy company deemed critical infrastructure through a devastating ransomware attack that temporarily shut down a pipeline providing nearly half of all fuel to the U.S. East Coast, counseled a large insurance provider through an unprecedented ransomware attack and associated network disruption and is supporting a multinational, Fortune 200 technology company in the development and implementation of a cybersecurity preparedness plan, among many others.
- Evan’s work and commitment to his field extends beyond his day-to-day role. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and has spoken at some of the most prominent cybersecurity industry events as an expert in cyber crisis communications, including the Incident Response Forum Ransomware, among others. A thought leader in the field, Evan has co-authored articles in O’Dwyer’s and FTI Consulting’s website and is featured in Health IT Security, among others.
