Overview
iProov Genuine Presence Assurance replaces the need for an in-person identity check by enabling banks, governments, healthcare providers and others to securely verify the identity of an online user.
It uses a facial biometric scan with a colored illumination to confirm that the user accessing a bank account or other secure service on their mobile device or computer is the right person (matching the photo in a government approved document such as a passport or driver’s license), a real person (and not a photo or mask being shown to a device camera), and that they are authenticating right now. GPA is completely unique and protected by 19 patents.
2020 was a huge year for iProov and Genuine Presence Assurance as the demand for online services rocketed. From government benefits to healthcare services to social networks supporting the pandemic, organizations globally needed to be able to remotely verify the identity of customers and citizens to prevent fraud, money-laundering and other cyber crime.
iProov more than doubled its customer base in 2020, with customers including the US Department of Homeland Security, the UK Home Office, the National Health Service (NHS), the Singapore Government, and numerous banks. The number of people using iProov to authenticate themselves with their bank, government or other organization worldwide increased by 549%, making 2020 a record year for the company.
How we are different
- Genuine Presence Assurance is more secure. Other 'liveness' solutions use face verification to confirm that an online user is the right person and that they are probably real but only GPA can protect against spoof attacks using deepfakes or other synthetic media, which is where the real threat to biometric authentication lies. It is also cloud based, ensuring that even if a computer or device is compromised the biometric check is not at risk. iProov combines its cloud platform with its iProov Security Operations Center and machine-learning to ensure that spoof attacks, either using masks or photographs or digitally injected media, are monitored and tracked so that the system can be strengthened and made even more resilient as the threat landscape changes.
