The challenges and threats our members manage daily are global and diverse, and having a diverse and global makeup is essential to mitigate these threats. ISC2 is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion and advocating for a global cybersecurity community. We want everyone to see themselves in our profession, irrespective of where they come from.

How we are different

- ISC2's most popular certification is the CISSP. Since its inception in 1994, the CISSP has been recognized as the “gold standard” in cybersecurity, with recognition by governments and accredited to standards of international bodies, including the renewal accreditation for all ISC2 certifications and trainings under ANAB ISO/IEC 17024 and the US Department of Defense (DoD). ISC2’s CISSP is the #1 security credential required by employers on LinkedIn. The class of CISSP-holders has risen from 46 in 1994 to nearly 180,000 in 2024.
- ISC2 has committed to helping increase pathways into the profession and strengthen cyber-adjacent disciplines. ISC2 launched the newest certification, Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), which provides foundational knowledge for an entry- or junior-level cybersecurity role. We have found that the CC caters to people beyond entry and junior-level roles, including individual career-changers, college students, and Board-level executives seeking foundational knowledge in cybersecurity. This certification is part of the One Million Certified in Cybersecurity Program, where ISC2 has pledged to provide free CC training and exams to one million people worldwide. In 2024, ISC2 surpassed 60,000 CC holders. CC supports the next generation of cyber leaders, especially in markets like the Middle East, Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as professionals in cyber-adjacent fields or professionals looking to expand their cybersecurity knowledge. ISC2 has pledged 500,000 course enrollments and exams to underrepresented groups in cybersecurity.
- ISC2 works to advocate on behalf of cyber professionals with governments worldwide, ensuring that member voices are heard when policy is formulated. In 2024, ISC2 had more than 250 touchpoints with global stakeholders to ensure they understand that employing cybersecurity professionals is a need, not a want, within their jurisdictions and organizations. ISC2 contributed to significant cyber legislation, such as the EU CRA and worked with US CISA and ONCD regularly.
