Joseph Carson, Chief Security Scientist and Advisory CISO at Thycotic has spent more than 25 years in enterprise and IT security, educating the users and leaders of scholastic institutions, governments and companies on how to keep themselves and their organizations safe from cyberattacks.

As a dedicated educator and professional, Joseph recognizes the need for constant learning, continuing his own education to expand his knowledge and sharing his experiences and lessons learned with his peers and teammates.

Carson mentors many cybersecurity professionals around the world and is a cybersecurity advisor to several governments, critical infrastructure, financial and maritime companies. Carson regularly shares his knowledge and experience giving workshops on vulnerability assessments, patch management best practices, the evolving cyber security perimeter and GDPR compliance.

Carson is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and an active member of the cybercommunity, regularly presenting at security conferences, government events, and at cybersecurity awareness days, continuously spreading his leadership experiences globally. With the current workforce shortage, properly trained and skilled cybersecurity professionals are needed now more than ever. In the past few years Carson has shared his knowledge and experience with thousands of industry peers and in 2019 he spoke at more than 50 global events. His speaking sessions have also included thousands of students and teachers helping reduce cyber bullying and increase cyber awareness in education systems.

In the recent months, Carson has been a volunteer for Cyber Volunteers-19 which is a group of security professionals helping protect the UK healthcare providers from cyber-attacks during the pandemic by sharing threat-intelligence and knowledge.

Joseph has, and will continue to be a driving force in educating the next generation of cybersecurity leaders. His passion, dedication and commitment to building a safer internet has become embedded into many others through his teachings.
