Overview

Lucia Milică Stacy is Global Resident CISO at Proofpoint and trusted advisor and mentor to the Global CISO community. Her combined passion for the law and technology have guided her 20-year career. She loves them equally and was fortunate to find a role that allows her to practice both. This rare background for a CISO—one with a law degree—is extremely beneficial for a security leader who must understand the nuances of cybersecurity and privacy laws.

She leads a team of resident CISOs who advise customers in developing sensible cybersecurity roadmaps to ensure CISOs can successfully navigate today’s cyber threats. Lucia and her team help customers secure numerous points of attack and educate users. She also works with CISOs to help them make the business case to reduce risk while instilling confidence among customers, internal stakeholders, and their boards that their organizations are protected.

Lucia brings together top CISOs at monthly meetups to discuss pressing issues impacting their operations. She also hosts roundtables featuring marquee female, healthcare, and education CISOs, facilitating discussions on critical concerns, experiences, and solves.

Lucia has extended her contributions to her profession by serving as an active participant with industry groups, including board and policy council membership on the National Technology Security Coalition, and service with the Department of Health and Human Services 405(d) Cybersecurity Task Group, SC Media Advisory Board, and Forbes Technology Council.

This year Lucia led Proofpoint’s annual Voice of the CISO global study and launched the Board of Directors report. These assets offer unique insights to CISOs and boards on how they can best address cybersecurity challenges. Further, they provide useful advice for CISOs on how to effectively communicate with boards using non-technical business language they understand, and for board members on how to develop relevant questions to ask of their CISOs.
