Over the past four years, Siemens has transformed cybersecurity awareness from a mandatory requirement into a strategic driver of culture, resilience, and growth, anchored within our Cybersecurity Governance framework.

What began as a challenge to strengthen human cyber resilience in a rapidly evolving threat landscape became our mission to create a state-of-the-art cybersecurity awareness program that educates Siemens employees on core security principles in a modern, engaging, and impactful way. Today, cybersecurity is no longer a periodic training exercise; it is deeply embedded in our corporate culture and structurally reinforced through Governance-driven accountability and transparency.

Built from the ground up, the program reimagined mandatory annual training to maximize relevance and user experience. As a result, employee satisfaction increased from an average rating of 2.7 out of 5 to consistently above 4.0, while global completion rates rose from 87 percent to over 95 percent. A dedicated onboarding module ensures every new joiner adopts a strong security mindset from day one.

To maximize output and create exponential value, we embedded measurable oversight into the program’s design. Our comprehensive phishing simulation platform includes automated, targeted follow-up training for repeat offenders, converting risk exposure into structured learning. KPI dashboards provide global transparency across business units, enabling data-driven steering and positioning cybersecurity awareness as a measurable Governance lever for enterprise risk reduction.

Beyond compliance, we cultivated a voluntary learning ecosystem that inspires engagement. In the past three years alone, employees have completed an estimated 500,000 hours of optional cybersecurity training. High-production, Hollywood-style awareness experiences, global digital and on-site activation campaigns, and rapid-response modules addressing emerging threats such as Generative AI, deepfakes, and smishing ensure our workforce remains ahead of an evolving threat landscape. This initiative was driven in close alignment with our global community and broader ecosystem, enabling rapid scale, relevance across regions, and sustained engagement.

Recognizing that cyber resilience extends beyond the enterprise, we launched the Family & Friends initiative, equipping employees with guides, children’s books, and shareable micro-learning materials to promote digital safety within families and communities.

As part of Siemens’ Cybersecurity Governance organization, our team plays a critical role in the company’s refreshed Cybersecurity Strategy. The program directly advances the 2030 strategic priority of fostering a Growth Mindset, accelerating the enterprise objective of strengthening awareness, education, and culture globally.
