With nearly 20 years of experience in the information security industry, Ryan Kalember currently leads cybersecurity strategy for Proofpoint and is a sought-out expert for leadership and guidance on best practices. In addition to serving as a trusted advisor to CISOs worldwide, he is also a member of the National Cyber Security Alliance board and Cybersecurity Technical Advisory Board. He has provided cybersecurity counsel to the Aspen Institute, National Governors Association, and global government delegations including Jordan, North Macedonia, Peru, and Spain, and his expertise has been featured on ABCNews.com, Bloomberg, CNBC, Forbes, Fortune, NBC Nightly News, USA Today, and WIRED.
Most recently, he contributed to the National Cybersecurity Agenda for Resilient Digital Infrastructure report by The Aspen Institute. The agenda is designed to assist federal policymakers in prioritizing, planning, and executing actionable cybersecurity initiatives whose goals are achievable in the next four years. And that was only the capstone of an unprecedented year in cybersecurity.
In early 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic took center stage no one anticipated the impact it would have on how we lived and worked. While cybercriminals quickly found novel ways to exploit people and corporate data, CISOs and news outlets worldwide trusted Kalember’s expertise on how to navigate the associated cybersecurity challenges. In addition, Kalember’s global team of security experts ensures that Proofpoint’s customers—including over 50% of the Fortune 1000—have consistent insight into the attacks that target their people. Early in his career, he was also a security practitioner, helping build many leading security organizations and security operations centers (SOCs) around the world. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where he studied fault tolerance, cryptography, and authentication algorithms.
