Overview

Effective security in the era of cloud requires more than one person, team, or department. It takes a coordinated approach, from development to tech, to marketing and sales, all working under a common vision to achieve success. Sanjay is the architect behind this vision, bringing the entire Netskope organization together under a singular purpose: protect an organization’s most critical assets–data and people–by ensuring security follows data and people wherever they are. Notable accolades include recognition by Goldman Sachs naming Sanjay as part of its 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2020 and the Info Security Global Excellence Awards for Leadership and Product Innovation in Shaping Info Security.

Under Sanjay’s leadership, Netskope recently became the second most-valuable venture-backed cybersecurity company in the world, raising $300 million on a $7.5 billion valuation to drive further SASE adoption (the company has raised over $1B in funding in total to date). Sanjay and his team also launched The SASE Accreditation, a first-of-its-kind accreditation course intended to address design requirements for Secure Access Services Edge (SASE). Sanjay is helping security professionals expand their knowledge of the security industry, improve their skills, and accelerate their journey around SASE adoption, while attracting new talent that will help Netskope expand and push the security industry forward.

Sanjay correctly predicted that the use of cloud computing would take hold in business much faster than many anticipated and that security would need to match its requirements in a way legacy technologies wouldn’t be able to keep up with. In response, he created a model that treats data protection as the center of gravity for security and networking teams, anticipating the SASE architectural model for IT long before it was even a term. This is why more than 25% of Fortune 100 companies trust Netskope to reimagine the security perimeter.

Accomplishments

Innovation: Sanjay founded Netskope on two key ideologies: establishing a company culture focused on collaboration and innovation while also providing the cybersecurity building blocks for a changing digital world. Passionate and focused on building an independent, iconic company that protects enterprises and governments across the world, he created a model that treats data protection as the center of gravity for security and networking teams, anticipating the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) architectural model for IT before it was even recognized by the industry or analysts as an impactful solution. A Gartner researcher first coined the term SASE in 2019.

Supports Culture: Sanjay believes it’s every CEO’s responsibility to prioritize not only workers’ physical health and safety, but their mental well-being too. He has done this by making empathy the number one company value, opening communication with employees, mandating time off, holding managers accountable, and incorporating work-life balance activities. Netskope has at least one virtual event for its employees per month. Event examples include virtual wellness sessions, virtual meditation sessions, and virtual bingo to help teams stay collaborative while having fun.

Prioritizes diversity: In an effort to support diversity and equality, Sanjay personally donated to the Equal Justice Initiative and encouraged everyone to support the many nonprofit and community organizations (whether financially or through volunteerism) that are working every day to address social injustice and oppose racism. This is a direct reflection of Netskope's commitment to diversity and its zero-tolerance for racism of any kind.
