About the Best Data Security Company category
Who this award is for
This award is for a company that specializes in keeping data safe wherever it is stored, used or shared. That includes companies that find and classify sensitive data, encrypt it, stop it from leaking, reduce its exposure wherever it is stored, back it up and restore it, or protect personal data and privacy.
Describe the company's whole data security business, not one product. Each product can be entered in its own category, for example Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) or Encryption and Key Management. A product that protects the data used by AI systems can also be entered in AI Data Security and Governance.
Related categories to enter
Each category is judged separately, so you can enter a company in every category that fits, with a separate nomination for each. Tailor each nomination to that category's focus. Entering several related categories gives the company more than one chance to be recognized.
How entries are judged
An independent jury of security practitioners, analysts and CISOs scores each nomination on leadership, innovation and impact. Each nomination competes in its category against organizations of similar size and region, so a mid-sized firm is not ranked against a global enterprise. Your entry package, any sponsorship and public votes do not affect the jury's scores.
Strong entries in this category show:
- Leadership — the company's standing in the data security market: customers and sectors served, types of data and systems covered, independent recognition received.
- Innovation — what the company does that others in data security do not, such as more accurate classification, protection that follows data into cloud and AI services, or faster recovery.
- Impact — what customers gained: sensitive data found and secured, leaks prevented, exposure reduced, recovery time targets met. Give figures from customers and say what kind of data was involved.
The jury awards Gold, Silver or Bronze, or a Finalist badge, and results are published on this site and announced to the 600,000+ member Cybersecurity Insiders community. Every approved nomination also enters the separate Community Choice award, decided by public votes.
How to enter
A company can nominate itself, or someone else can nominate it, for example a PR or marketing agency entering a client. The nomination form has a confidential field for detail that is shared with the judges and not published, such as revenue figures, customer names or funding terms. Deadlines, pricing and entry steps are on the How it Works page.
