Overview

With more than 30 years of cybersecurity experience, Avi brings extensive leadership and technical expertise to his role as CISO. He began his career with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), managing highly complex, mission-critical data networks for IDF operations. His corporate experience includes executive roles at Wells Fargo, E*TRADE, Draft Security, Palo Alto Networks, and more. He holds more than a dozen technical certifications in cybersecurity.

As SafeBreach CISO, Avi is the architect of the company’s cybersecurity strategy, overseeing critical functions, including overall security architecture, risk management, and compliance. Avi’s position as a CISO for a cybersecurity vendor gives him the unique opportunity to influence the company’s strategy and product direction. He works closely with SafeBreach’s sales, customer success, and R&D teams to ensure the company’s products meet the evolving needs of CISOs in industries around the world.

Avi is personally committed to mentoring others and works regularly to help individuals develop into the next phase of their careers. He also mentors college graduates as they launch their cybersecurity careers. He’s an active member of Aphinia, an invitation-only community of CISOs and other security executives who provide career advice insights. Avi is also an active member of DoGood, an organization helping connect executives with companies who then donate to charitable organizations.

As a recognized leader within the security industry, Avi is a compelling speaker at industry conferences, webinars, and podcasts. He recently co-hosted the roundtable “Cyber Warfare in the 21st Century” and published “The Changing Role of the CISO” in Dark Reading.

In his free time, Avi is passionate about animal welfare and is a volunteer with Jasmine’s Haven, an equine rescue, and HeARTs Speak, which helps change the way the world sees shelter pets. With his wife, Avi helps rescue and rehabilitate horses, dogs, cats, and ducks.

 

Accomplishments

• With over 30 years of cybersecurity experience, Avi brings an extensive mix of technical acumen and business leadership to his SafeBreach role. Beyond his traditional CISO responsibilities, Avi also acts as an internal advisor, beta tester, and consultant to SafeBreach, whose breach and attack simulation (BAS) platform is designed specifically to help CISOs and security practitioners gain greater visibility into their security ecosystem to reduce risk and develop a more proactive security program. Avi leverages his own perspective and experience as a CISO to inform the company’s product direction and ensure it meets the needs of security teams around the world. As a fierce customer advocate, Avi meets with SafeBreach customers to understand their challenges, share advice, and offer insights on their cybersecurity program.

Based on his expertise, Avi has been invited by top-tier publications, like Dark Reading, to share insights through byline articles aimed at helping organizations navigate the complex issues facing the security industry. He has also been widely quoted in top-tier security publications, like SC Magazine and TechTarget, based on his unique perspective on breaking security news and trends.


• Avi is committed to mentoring individuals within his organization and the greater cybersecurity community. Whether it’s helping develop future leaders within SafeBreach or actively participating in peer-to-peer industry networking groups such as Aphinia, he takes the time to share his experience to help others grow and advance. Avi meets with dozens of young entrepreneurs in the security industry to help provide them with insight into what CISOs need and how to best develop their products. He is also an active member of the DoGood organization and helps enroll his peers to do the same.
