Overview

With almost a decade spent with a major national intelligence service managing cyber-intelligence to counter terrorism and other international threats, Ritesh has seen how geopolitical agendas impact national economics and commercial businesses. Having witnessed the state of cybersecurity evolved through the dot-com crisis, global financial crisis, and many geopolitical upheavals, Ritesh has seen, first-hand, the devastating effects of cyber threats and how poorly prepared organizations are when faced with cyber adversaries.

With cyberattacks mounting year after year, he recognized the very basic tenet of how cyber defense is being carried out in many organizations needs to change. This requires a shift in mindset towards intelligence-driven cybersecurity where quality cyber intel would guide the use of appropriate security controls. To activate Ritesh’s mission to empower all segments of society with the skills and knowledge to identify cyber threats and protect people, data, and assets, CYFIRMA was founded in 2017.

Ritesh led the team of cyber researchers and developers to build the company’s flagship product, DeCYFIR. The innovative platform is designed to defend organizations by uncovering attack surfaces, building digital risk profiles, and using personalized cyber-intelligence to predict imminent attacks.

Today, DeCYFIR is the core cyber-intelligence platform protecting more than 30 Fortune 500 companies and employing over 50 cybersecurity experts.

Ritesh is driven to create a cyber-safe world. He believes safe and secure cyberspace is essential for societies and communities to progress and for innovation to thrive.

Accomplishments

• Ritesh started his career in cybersecurity more than 20 years ago. He has headed up a national cyber intelligence agency as well as leading the global cybersecurity function in one of the largest mining companies in the world. His experience in both public and private sectors have accorded him a unique view of how government and businesses should manage cyber threats and risks in a more effective and efficient manner.

• During the course of his career, Ritesh has developed prototypes for data loss prevention, social profile risk assessment, web content assessment management, intelligence-led cyber risk management, and adaptive cyber threat intelligence tools. He is also the co-inventor of two patented technologies for phishing fraud detection and protocol-aware PCB architectures. These inventions and technologies have been deployed to strengthen cyber postures, protecting millions of people from cyber-criminals and other threats.

• Ritesh's deep insights into the world of hackers and hacktivists have also given him the rare perspective on how hackers would view a target, and how cyberattacks and technical exploits are orchestrated and executed. He now extends his knowledge to help organizations predict upcoming attacks. Over the years, Ritesh has provided deep insights into clients' threat landscape and that has helped them avoid massive financial and reputation damage.
