MODHS is one of the largest cybersecurity programs ever executed in a healthcare environment in the Kingdom. It provides a large-scale transformation that is connecting hospitals, clinics, and distributed endpoints serving Ministry of Defense personnel and families. The stakes are simple: keep care available everywhere, keep patient records private, and keep services resilient even under constant cyber pressure.

What makes this project stand out is how the security capability was designed as one coherent system, not a collection of tools. Identity sits at the center. With cutting edge solutions (Data security), access is tied to verified identity and least privilege, including privileged workflows that are logged and controlled. Endpoints and servers are protected with capabilities spanning EPP, EDR and NDR, file integrity monitoring, mobile device management, email security, and structured patch management, leading to prevention, detection, and recovery are treated as one lifecycle, not separate initiatives.

At the application and traffic layer, (Load Balancer, WAF, SSL inspection) solutions support availability, modern web protection, and inspection of encrypted flows where appropriate. Perimeter controls are reinforced with edge firewalls, while continuous vulnerability management and measurable risk reduction tied to remediation plans. Network access control adds a practical gate: devices that don’t meet policy are contained before they can become an incident.

The program also took validation seriously. Independent penetration testing was built into the delivery rhythm to confirm real-world security, not just compliance on paper. And it’s not stopping at “go-live”: the next wave expands coverage with additional controls (data center firewalling, DNS security, DHCP security, printer security, API security, document watermarking) to close remaining exposure areas as the platform grows.

The impact is both operational and human. Clinicians and staff gain secure, consistent access to medical and non-medical systems across the MOD health footprint, while patients benefit from continuity of care that doesn’t depend on location.
