NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Gayathri Nagarajan is redefining cybersecurity product leadership by transforming one of the industry’s most mature and complex markets, enterprise firewalls, into an AI-driven, intelligent, and autonomous security platform.
She originated and built the vision for AIOps for Cisco Firewalls from scratch after recognizing a critical industry problem: as firewall environments scaled across hybrid and on-premises deployments, customers were overwhelmed with too much data via telemetry & metrics, skill-set demand and operational complexity. Security teams were spending hours to weeks troubleshooting issues, navigating 20+ manual steps, and relying heavily on deep subject matter expertise to interpret massive volumes of data and take corrective actions.
Rather than expose more data, Gayathri championed a radically different approach: deliver fewer, high-confidence, actionable insights. She defined the product vision, built the multi-year roadmap, developed the investment case, and aligned an 400+ person global engineering organization along with Customer Experience, Sales, Legal, Compliance, Design, Research, and Go-to-Market teams to execute this transformation. Her portfolio represents a $1B firewall management business, where AIOps became a strategic growth engine.
Under her leadership, Cisco operationalized decades of TAC intelligence- support cases, bug data, PSIRT advisories, and configuration best practices into a continuously learning AI platform. The system processes 25TB+ of data, 52B metrics, and 200B events daily across 700,000 firewalls, delivering:
• Near-zero Mean Time to Detect (down from 2 hours to 3 weeks)
• Single-click root cause identification replacing 20+ SME troubleshooting steps
• Guided, reviewable remediations embedded in workflow
• Instant upgrade risk analysis replacing weeks of manual triage and reporting
• Real-time best practice recommendations refreshed every 30 minutes
The measurable impact has been transformative:
• 11,763+ customers adopted AIOps
• $800M+ attributed revenue contribution within months of launch
• 30% quarter-over-quarter adoption growth
• 108,000+ firewall policies optimized
• 4,000 TAC cases eliminated
• 13-point Product CSAT improvement
• Escalation rate reduced from 5.5% to 3.9%
Gayathri introduced an industry-first sovereign-first AI architecture, enabling enterprises to retain strict data residency across global regions while benefiting from cloud-scale AI intelligence without forcing full cloud migration. No other firewall vendor has operationalized field intelligence and compliance-aware AI at this scale.
Now, she is leading the next evolution: AgenticOps for Hybrid Mesh Firewall where agents act as autonomous participants in network & security operations. Her roadmap integrates human-in-the-loop approval workflows, confidence scoring, adversarial safeguards, trust & transparency in data handling and Zero Trust orchestration to ensure autonomy does not outpace accountability.
Through bold vision, cross-functional influence, technical depth, and measurable global impact, Gayathri has repositioned firewall security from reactive infrastructure to intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous cybersecurity operations setting a new standard for product leadership in the AI era.
