Overview

One of the challenges with the traditional approach to enterprise security is that it primarily focuses on preventing breaches, but once the perimeter has been penetrated, there’s no foolproof way to detect or remediate threats. This happens for a number of reasons—lack of consistent network visibility, proliferation of security tools, and contention for access to network traffic, to name a few.

As a recognized leader in the network traffic visibility space, Gigamon is leveraging that experience to help businesses improve their security approach with the introduction of its GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform.

A Security Delivery Platform can provide a powerful solution for deploying a diverse set of security tools and appliances, as well as scaling each security solution beyond traditional deployment. Gigamon’s GigaSECURE is the industry’s first Security Delivery Platform that provides pervasive visibility of network traffic, users, applications and suspicious activity – across physical and virtual networks – and delivers it to multiple security devices simultaneously without impacting network availability. As a direct result, third party security appliances are more effective at protection and remediation, and the cost and complexity of security infrastructure is reduced.

Though the product was first introduced in July, GigaSECURE has already earned the support and endorsement of security vendors spanning all major categories of security applications, including IPS, SIEM, WAF, and Advanced Threat Prevention solutions, as well as emerging technology areas such as user behavioral analytics and advanced forensics. Partners include Check Point, Cisco, Cyphort, Damballa, Datiphy, ExtraHop, FireEye, Fortinet, Imperva, Lancope, Lastline, LightCyber, LogRythm, ManagedMethods, Niara, Palo Alto Networks, PinDrop Security, PRotectWise, RSA, Savvius, SideBand and Tenable. Further, Gigamon has 1,916 customers; 45 percent of all customer orders in 2015 were security related, up from 36 percent in 2014, highlighting the increasing interest and demand in Gigamon’s security platform. In Q4 2015, 90 percent

At launch, Scott Haugdahl, Senior Architect at Blue Cross Blue and Shield of Minnesota, made this comment in the press release: “Given the multitude and magnitude of breaches around the world, it is no surprise that the industry needs to reexamine how security is architected and deployed. A Security Delivery Platform gives security administrators an advantage that they’ve never had until now by allowing them to gain pervasive, multi-tier visibility into malware and breaches within the environment.”
