Overview

ManagedMethods is the leading Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cybersecurity, student safety, and compliance platform for K-12 school districts. The platform monitors district Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 email, file sharing, chat, and video apps 24/7/365 and empowers district IT admins with full visibility and control of their cloud environment. ManagedMethods also supports Zoom and Cisco Webex to further monitor and protect school district remote learning environments.

ManagedMethods uses cloud-native API integrations to help district IT admins secure sensitive data on any device, from any location. The platform uses artificial intelligence-powered malware and phishing threat protection, detects and remediates account takeovers, and secures data from malicious and accidental breaches. Out-of-the-box and customizable data loss prevention policies allow IT admins to automate enforcement, including notifications, password resets, revoke sharing, and other tasks without the need for custom coding or switching to different tools.

IT and student resource teams also use ManagedMethods to monitor student safety signals in district Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 apps. Turnkey and customizable policies detect signals such as cyberbullying, self-harm, discrimination, threats of violence, explicit content, and domestic abuse in both text and image content. ManagedMethods does not collect or store any student information, nor do company employees view any information without the explicit request of district administrators in the context of a product support ticket.

ManagedMethods makes Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 security easy for K-12 IT teams—no proxy, no agent, no extension, and no special training needed.

How we are different

Third-party App Control: ManagedMethods is the only education-focused cloud/SaaS platform addressing the cybersecurity and data privacy issues third-party apps create inside school districts. ManagedMethods not only secures access to the applications but also controls the activity occurring in the application itself. ManagedMethods also gives IT admins the ability to sanction and unsanction applications before any students or staff try to connect an app to their Google or Microsoft account. This way, IT admins have control over which apps are allowed into their cloud environments and which aren't. The number of applications students and staff attempt to connect to is greatly increasing, and most of them request permissions that put districts at risk. District IT admins can minimize this with ManagedMethods to further protect students and staff from the cybersecurity and data security threats they inadvertently expose themselves to.

Visibility: ManagedMethods allows IT admins visibility into their remote learning environments, which continue to be relied upon as the COVID-19 pandemic persists. Districts use video conferencing applications like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex to keep students and staff connected. However, this bypasses the traditional on-site security measures—firewalls, endpoint security, content filters—IT teams relied on to stay secure. Districts don’t have many tools offering protection to students and staff when using applications outside of school and this is how ManagedMethods differs from the competition. ManagedMethods monitors and alerts administrators to suspicious activity happening inside their applications when connected via the cloud to fill the cybersecurity gaps.

Ease of Use: ManagedMethods is cloud-based and uses APIs—there is no impact on students and staff in terms of network stability. IT admins can get up and running with ManagedMethods in minutes to offer better protection to their school district. Further, ManagedMethods supports both Google and Microsoft applications, a key differentiator compared to its competitors.
