Overview

The NTT Security Global Threat Intelligence Center (GTIC) consists of dedicated and skilled cybersecurity researchers and technology worldwide that protect, inform and educate NTT clients through the following activities:

• Threat research
• Vulnerability research
• Detective technologies development
• Threat intelligence management
• Communication to NTT Group clients

The GTIC goes above and beyond the traditional pure research organization by taking its threat and vulnerability research and combining it with detective technologies development to produce applied threat intelligence. Its mission is to protect and provide NTT clients with the services and tools to prevent cyber incidents and deliver early warning notifications of risks and threats 24/7.

With centers in Europe, the United States, and Japan, the GTIC’s threat research is focused on gaining understanding and insight into the various threat actors, exploit tools and malware – and the techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP) used by attackers.

Vulnerability research pre-emptively uncovers zero-day vulnerabilities that are likely to become the newest attack vector, while ensuring full understanding of published vulnerabilities. With this knowledge, NTT’s security monitoring services can more accurately identify malicious activity targeting a client’s infrastructure.

Detective technologies development focuses on how new approaches to discovering attacks (heuristic, big data, complex event processing, and machine-learning analysis) can utilize the developed threat indicators. It also ensures that the existing analytics and capabilities of NTT’s current Global Managed Security Services Platform (GMSSP) are fully utilized.

Threat intelligence management is where it all comes together. The GTIC continually monitors the global threat landscape for new and emerging threats using NTT’s global internet infrastructure, clouds, and data centers, along with third-party intelligence feeds, and works to understand, analyze, curate, and enrich those threats using advanced analysis techniques and proprietary tools. The GTIC then publishes and curates them using the Global Threat Intelligence Platform (GTIP) for the benefit of NTT clients.

Accomplishments

--The NTT Global Threat Intelligence Center publishes a range of intelligence updates, including the annual Global Threat Intelligence Report, monthly threat reports, semi-monthly Cyber Security Information newsletter, weekly security bulletins, emergency threat advisories as needed and GTIC research reports in response to emerging threats such as crypto-mining. These reports provide industry analysis, thought leadership and actionable steps for enterprises to protect themselves from prolific cyber threats.

--The GTIC is not only responsible for protecting, informing and educating NTT clients, but also shaping the way the company approaches its own operational strategy. Through diligent research, monitoring and analysis, the data provided by the GTIC informs the decision making, strategy and development of how NTT moves forward on behalf of itself and its clients.

--The GTIC is also responsible for the cybersecurity posture of NTT, and continues to provide first-class recommendations and effective countermeasures against threat actors to ensure NTT remains a trusted source for security.
