NOMINATION HIGHLIGHTS
Ranjan Kathuria is a visionary cybersecurity leader whose groundbreaking work has set new benchmarks in cyber resilience, advanced risk intelligence, and innovative cloud security at a global scale. As Staff Cloud Security Engineer / Architect at Rubrik HQ, Ranjan has architected and led the transformation of Rubrik’s cloud security landscape, driving measurable improvements in both security posture and operational efficiency.
Beyond his organizational impact, Ranjan has made significant contributions to the broader cybersecurity community by sharing practical, open knowledge that helps others build safer systems. He was recognized as Cybersecurity Architect of the Year 2025 by the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, a distinction that reflects not just his technical achievements but his role in advancing best practices across the industry.
At the OpenSSL Conference in Prague in Oct 2025, he presented “Building a Cloud-Native Private CA with OpenSSL and CloudHSM: A Secure, Self-Serve PKI Architecture,” walking practitioners through a scalable, cloud-native PKI framework that balances security, automation, and usability so organizations can adopt stronger encryption and certificate management without prohibitive cost or complexity.
Ranjan is also a Wiz MVP, part of a highly selective global community of forward thinking cloud security leaders recognized for shaping the future of cloud security and sharing best practices with peers. Through this program and his talks at the Wiz San Francisco office, he has shown how he scaled secure by default practices at Rubrik and led the company into Wiz’s prestigious “Zero Critical Club,” a milestone reached by only a subset of Wiz customers that demonstrates the elimination of critical issues in cloud environments.
Ranjan is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of security and technology professionals. As a mentor at Florida International University’s CODE CRUNCH hosted hackathons, SummerCodeX 2025 and the 305 Hackathon Fall 2025, he has guided students from diverse majors as they built real world projects in XR, Web3, AI, and cybersecurity, helping them clarify their path into information security and instilling secure design thinking early in their journeys.
Ranjan’s research has also produced innovations that enhance societal resilience against cyber threats. He is an inventor on the granted patent “Efficient vulnerability analysis over backups” (US12462036B2), which describes techniques for efficiently analyzing backup data to identify vulnerabilities while minimizing operational disruption and improving the reliability of last resort recovery systems that protect critical infrastructure, enterprises, and public services from evolving attacks.
