Accomplishments

• Rodney Joffe is a global cybersecurity pioneer who has made many technical contributions to the industry, some of which are reflected in his 13-plus patents in security and DNS. He is the inventor of the DNS Anycast and split horizon technologies, which were core to his founding of UltraDNS in 1998, and is responsible for the implementation of DNS Shield, which has won multiple awards including the 2019 Computing network Security product of the year. Today, this product protects more than 300 million consumers and businesses from DNS outages.


• Joffe is a recognized leader in the security industry. He sat on the U.S. government’s cybersecurity intelligence panel and was a leader of the Conficker Working Group. He regularly assists federal authorities with investigating and protecting against cybercrime and cyberterrorist activities in the U.S. and abroad. He was one of the first civilians to receive the FBI Director’s Award for outstanding cyber investigation, for his role in uncovering and taking down the Butterfly botnet. Other awards include the Mary Litynski Lifetime Achievement Award from M3AAWG, for his lifetime work in fighting text spam, malware and DDoS attacks, and the Contribution to Cyber Security Award, presented at the 2018 Computing Security Awards.


• Joffe combines extensive technical expertise with deep strategic understanding and a commitment to share his knowledge. Currently, he is responsible for defining the technical direction of Neustar’s Security Solutions, as well leading the company’s cybersecurity initiatives. Recently promoted to Chief Technology Officer for the company’s Security business, Joffe also chairs the Neustar International Security Council, an elite group of cybersecurity leaders from a variety of key industries and companies. As chair, he provides industry insight and creates cutting-edge research regarding threat intelligence levels across the globe —solidifying his role as an educator and thought leader within the cybersecurity industry.
