— Cybersecurity Professional of the Year
Tamer Hassan, the co-founder and CEO of White Ops, had been tracking a smallish botnet that transformed into the largest botnet ever discovered, named 3ve. In just a few months it had created more than 10,000 counterfeit websites, churned out up to 40,000 new IP addresses per day to generate fake traffic and reap the ad revenue. In addition, 3ve had infected and compromised more than 1.7 million devices owned by everyday users and corporations. Through Tamer’s leadership, leveraging the White Ops Bot Mitigation Platform, he took on a lead role to collaborate with the FBI, Google, Facebook and many other partners in the takedown of 3ve, one of the largest botnets ever defeated.
