About the Mobile Security category
What belongs in this category
The Mobile Security category covers products that protect the phones and tablets people use for work and in daily life. On company-owned and personal devices, typical entries detect malicious and risky apps, block phishing links in text messages, chat and email, spot unsafe networks and device compromise, and share device risk with access and management tools.
Securing the apps a company builds fits Mobile Application Security, and enrolling and configuring devices fits Unified Endpoint Management (UEM). Mobile phishing defense can also enter Anti-Phishing, and products for consumers fit Consumer Cybersecurity. Mobile security products may enter Endpoint Security, the broad endpoint category, as well.
Related categories to enter
Each category is judged separately, so you can enter a product in every category that matches what it does, with a separate nomination for each. Tailor each nomination to that category's focus. Entering several related categories gives the product more than one chance to be recognized.
How entries are judged
An independent jury of security practitioners, analysts and CISOs scores each nomination on leadership, innovation and impact. Each nomination competes in its category against organizations of similar size and region, so a mid-sized firm is not ranked against a global enterprise. Your entry package, any sponsorship and public votes do not affect the jury's scores.
Strong entries in this category show:
- Leadership — the devices the product protects: phones and tablets covered, operating systems supported, threats seen, and customers or mobile carriers that rely on it.
- Innovation — a mobile threat problem solved in a new way, such as catching phishing in any messaging app, protection that respects privacy on personal devices, or detecting spyware on high-risk users' phones.
- Impact — results for customers: malicious apps and phishing blocked, compromised devices found, access denied to risky devices. Give figures from customers.
The jury awards Gold, Silver or Bronze, or a Finalist badge, and results are published on this site and announced to the 600,000+ member Cybersecurity Insiders community. Every approved nomination also enters the separate Community Choice award, decided by public votes.
How to enter
