About the Security for AI category
What belongs in this category
The Security for AI category is about securing AI, not about AI used to do security work. It covers products that protect the models an organization trains or runs, the AI applications and agents it builds, the data those systems use, and staff use of public AI tools. Typical entries are platforms that combine several of these protections, and AI security products that fit no narrower category.
This is the broad category for securing AI. A specialist product starts in the category for its main job, such as AI Application and Runtime Security for protecting AI applications in use, Agentic AI Security for agents, AI Usage Control for staff use of AI tools or AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) for finding AI assets and their risks. It can then enter this category as well. Products that use AI to do security work belong in AI-Powered Security Solution and the other AI-for-security categories.
Related categories to enter
Each category is judged separately, so you can enter a product in every category that matches what it does, with a separate nomination for each. Tailor each nomination to that category's focus. Entering several related categories gives the product more than one chance to be recognized.
How entries are judged
An independent jury of security practitioners, analysts and CISOs scores each nomination on leadership, innovation and impact. Each nomination competes in its category against organizations of similar size and region, so a mid-sized firm is not ranked against a global enterprise. Your entry package, any sponsorship and public votes do not affect the jury's scores.
Strong entries in this category show:
- Leadership — how widely the product protects AI in production: models, applications and agents covered, users of AI tools under control, and customers, including regulated ones, that rely on it.
- Innovation — an AI security problem solved in a new way, such as one control point for models, apps and agents, protection that keeps pace with new models, or coverage of AI tools staff adopt without approval.
- Impact — what changed for customers: AI tools and agents brought under policy, sensitive data kept out of prompts, attacks on AI applications blocked, audit questions on AI answered. Give figures from customers.
The jury awards Gold, Silver or Bronze, or a Finalist badge, and results are published on this site and announced to the 600,000+ member Cybersecurity Insiders community. Every approved nomination also enters the separate Community Choice award, decided by public votes.
How to enter
A vendor can enter its own product or service, and a PR agency can enter it on a client's behalf. The nomination form has a confidential field for detail that is shared with the judges and not published, such as customer names, deployment figures or roadmap.
