Overview

Today, Malwarebytes protects more than 12,000 SMBs and enterprise businesses around the globe from dangerous threats such as malware, ransomware, and exploits that escape detection by traditional antivirus solutions.

The company is headquartered in California with offices in Europe, and a global team of threat researchers and security experts. This year, Malwarebytes expanded endeavors throughout Asia, initially focused on driving business in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand with efforts in China and Japan to follow. Additionally, Malwarebytes, launched operations in the Middle East.

In 2016, Malwarebytes announced a $50 million Series B funding round from Fidelity Management and Research Company. This step toward bigger growth was in conjunction with record renewals, continued enterprise adoption and strong billings across all regions. Sales increased by 75 percent over Q1 2015 and overall growth was driven by a 90 percent increase in corporate subscriptions.

This year, Malwarebytes announced new anti-ransomware capabilities for the Malwarebytes Endpoint Security platform and introduced Malwarebytes Breach Remediation for Mac and new forensics capabilities as part of its Malwarebytes Breach Remediation platform.

Most recently, in late 2016, Malwarebytes released Malwarebytes 3.0, a next generation antivirus replacement. The solution replaces antivirus with superior technology designed to block malware, ransomware, exploits, and other advanced threats. Malwarebytes 3.0 is the first of its kind, employing four independent technology modules—anti-malware, anti-ransomware, anti-exploit, and malicious website protection—to block and remove both known and unknown threats. The anti-ransomware and anti-exploit modules employ signature-less technology so users are protected from advanced threats that are not yet known to traditional antivirus research labs. The solution also scans four times faster than its predecessor, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

In the past year, the company has been recognized as one of the “fastest growing” companies by organizations such as Inc. and Deloitte respectively.
